Marnel was born and raised in the heart of the Cape Winelands and matriculated at Paarl Girls’ High School in 2014. The year thereafter she enrolled as a law student at Stellenbosch University where she obtained her BA (Law) and postgraduate LLB degrees in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
During the course of her university years, Marnel attended vacation work programmes at various law firms, took on an internship at the South African Society for Labour Law at the Cape Town Labour Court in 2018. She also taught the subject, Legal Writing Skills, to first year law students in her final year of studies.
Marnel joined the dynamic team at Van Zyl Kruger Incorporated in January 2020 as a candidate legal practitioner to complete her two years of practical vocational training, after which she wishes to be admitted as an attorney and potentially a conveyancer.
Marnel currently assists with all litigation related matters at the firm. She has taken a keen interest in family law, property law and the law of succession.
Marnel enjoys outdoor activities, cooking, staying fit and occasionally, enjoying a good wine tasting paired with a variety of cheeses.
